Australia's minimum wage is worth about USD 17.90 an hour and New Zealand's about USD 14.26. Across the Pacific island nations the floor falls to near USD 1 an hour, and the 18-fold nominal gap shrinks once the cost of living and the size of each formal workforce enter the picture.
